Today, we had a Harvest Festival. We took our offerings and watched some performances. Class 2 performed a song called 'Harvest Samba', followed by the school choir singing 'For the Harvest'.

13.09.22

Today, Class 2 had a fantastic day at Wildwood Craft on a Stone Age experience day.

We started by having a look at lots of Stone Age tools, weapons, artefacts, animal skin and bones. We even went into the roundhouse. We asked Maria and Matthew lots of amazing questions about all the items we could see and were handling so we knew what they were and what they might have been used for. Next, we watched Matthew demonstrate how to use a spear and a bow and arrow. We discussed what these were used for, the development of weaponry and how they were made.

Then, we learnt about how to make an effective shelter and had a go at making our own. We did a fantastic job and a huge range of different shelters were made. After making shelters, we learnt how to safely make a fire. First, we listened to and watched Maria and Matthew make their fire, then we had a go at doing our own. It was very tricky because the air was damp, but all fires were started successfully.

After lunch, we learnt about how they boiled water in the Stone Age. We watched Maria and Matthew do this because using hot rocks is very dangerous, but it was amazing! Finally we learnt how to prepare a fish to cook on a fire. Some of us were even brave enough to have a go at gutting the fish ourselves. Once cooked, we tasted the fish and it was delicious!

We had an amazing day filled with so many fun and exciting activities and we learnt so much!
